起初，波丝芳

从母亲身边被盗,

以至大地女神

惩罚世界-这听起来

符合我们对人类行为的认知，

人类因创就伤痛

而深感满足，特别是

那些不经心的伤害：

译者备注：诗名中的波丝芳(Persephone)是希腊神话中的地狱和繁殖女神。根据希腊神话,她被地狱之神黑德斯(Hades)强取,带入地狱。之后经宙斯说解,一年四分之一时间与黑德斯以夫妻同住地狱,另四分之三与她母亲同住,也因此,我们一年有春夏秋三季众树生长,而冬天却一片死亡。
